Frequently asked questions
Q: Why buy Soy candles over traditional paraffin wax?
A: Soy is a natural product that supports American farmers. It burns slower and 99% cleaner than petroleum based paraffin wax candles. Because all natural soy candles burn much longer than paraffin wax candles and soy blend candles, you save money. Soy also holds fragrance in naturally formed "pockets" that allow an even, well balanced scent from start to finish.
Q: What is the difference between your " cotton coreless wicks" and other wicks?
A: Most wicks, are advertised as "cotton wicks" however, they are not coreless wicks. Although cotton, many other candles contain paper core wicks. Our wicks have an external paper support structure and are dipped in vegetable oil to add rigidity. This allows to wick to burn slower and produces 99% less soot than paper core cotton or synthetic wicks.
Q: How do your wicks "trim themselves"? Does that mean I'll never have to trim Northeast Candle Co. candle wicks?
A: We won't promise that your wick will never need trimmed, however, you will find these candles are almost maintenance free. According The National Candle Association, it is recommended that you keep wicks at 1/4 inch max in height; they also recommend that you do not burn for longer than four hours and cool for at least two hours before relighting. Our coreless candle wicks allow for a consistent clean burn.
Q: Why don't you add coloring to your candles?
A: Soy wax is a natural plant product. Because of its molecular make up, fragrance oils do not mix with the wax. Microscopic pockets form in the wax as it cools, the fragrance oils settle into these pockets becoming trapped in the wax. When the wax pool of the lit candle opens these microscopic fragrance pockets, oils are released giving you that one of a kind Northeast Candle Co. fragrance balance.
By adding coloring to the candle, we would be using up those pockets for coloring instead of fragrance. We decided to use all of these naturally formed pockets were served a better purpose for a nice balanced candle. We wish we could tell you this is our patented process, but it isn't; its just good candle making!
Q: Are you soaps really all natural?
A: Yes, our soaps are all natural. Many soaps, even high-end are mass produced soaps are not true soap, they are actually detergents.
That doesn't mean they aren't good or will harm you, it means that they are considered detergent soap. Northeast Candle Co. soaps are all natural and contain zero artificial ingredients.
